Tillandsia melanocrater

Previously known at Tillandsia tricolor v. melanocrater, this color changing variety now gets its own species! Found in the tropical forests of Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama, this pineapple like form will turn a brilliant red when exposed to proper sun. Shoots off a yellow/red bract and blooms purple. 

Can be grown indoors or outdoors.  Best in strong, indirect light.

This is a plant from a humid environment and may require more frequent watering. Spray or dunk once a week and allow to dry within 6-8 hours. DO. NOT. SOAK. This will trap water in the tight grooves of the leaves and rot your plant.
